We are living in the last days, and the level of spiritual warfare is intense. However, as believers in Jesus Christ, we have His given authority to triumph over Satan and his defeated hordes. Though the enemy is pulling out all the stops, knowing his time is short before being thrown into the lake of fire, we must not fear or be impressed by his actions.

We have been given authority through Jesus Christ to overcome the powers of darkness. This authority is rooted in our union with Christ, who is seated at the right hand of God, far above all principalities and powers. As believers, we must understand our position in Christ and the power we have as a result. This authority is not based on personal merit but on our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Practical Steps to Exercise Our Authority Daily and Stay in Victory:

  • Develop a strong prayer life and pray without ceasing.
  • Cultivate intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Study and meditate on His Word, especially Ephesians and Colossians, which speak about your authority in Christ.
  • Stand firm in faith, even when faced with opposition or spiritual attacks.
  • Rely on your knowledge of your position in Christ to combat spiritual forces.
  • Be vigilant and proactive; do not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices.
  • Be confident that God hears and acts upon the believer’s prayers and seek justice in the Courts of Heaven.

Scriptural Basis of Our Authority1:

Ephesians 1:17-23:

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened… And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church…”

Summary: This passage emphasizes the greatness of God’s power towards believers and Christ being seated at the right hand of the Father, far above all rule and authority. Believers need to have their spiritual eyes opened to understand the hope, riches, and power they have in Christ. This position of Christ is shared with believers, giving them authority over spiritual forces.

Ephesians 2:4-6:

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ… And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Summary: This passage underscores the believer’s spiritual position, made alive in Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly realms. Through God’s mercy and love, believers are made alive with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly realms. This seating with Christ signifies sharing in His authority and power over the spiritual realm.

Ephesians 6:10-18:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes… For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Summary: This scripture focuses on the Armor of God and practical aspects of spiritual warfare. It explains the necessity of putting on the full armor of God to stand against the devil’s schemes. Each piece of the armor represents a vital part of the believer’s defense and offensive strategy against spiritual forces, emphasizing the importance of being prepared and vigilant in spiritual battles.

Colossians 1:13-14:

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Summary: This scripture points out that believers have been transferred from the dominion of darkness into the kingdom of Christ. This transition signifies a change in authority and power. In Christ, believers are no longer under the power of darkness but have authority over it.

Colossians 2:9-15:

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form… He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

Summary: This passage describes the fullness of deity living in Christ and the disarming of powers and authorities by Christ’s work on the cross. It elaborates on the completeness believers have in Christ, who embodies the fullness of deity. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, believers are freed from sin and the law’s condemnation. Christ’s triumph over the powers and authorities through the cross signifies that believers share in this victory and have authority over these defeated forces.

Additional Insights:

When it comes to spiritual warfare, remember that we have the Armor of God and the Courts of Heaven. We can step into the Courts of Heaven, bring our cases before the Just Judge, obtain favorable verdicts, and let the angels engage in spiritual combat. They can remove demons from people and places more effectively and quickly than we can, and we must co-labor with them.

Conclusion:

In these challenging times, it is crucial to remember that our authority as believers is rooted in our union with Christ. By understanding and exercising this authority through prayer, scripture, and faith, we can stand firm against any spiritual opposition. Embrace your position in Christ and walk confidently in the victory He has secured for you.

Salvation Prayer:

Finally, if you are reading this blog post and have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior and lord, this decision is the most important decision of your life.  Jesus proclaimed, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.’  He is the gateway to heaven. If you wish to invite Him into your life as your savior and Lord, recite this prayer aloud in faith:

‘Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a savior.

I earnestly ask your forgiveness for my sins, and I place my trust in your precious blood, shed to atone for my sins.

I believe that you are the Son of God, who died and rose again on the third day.

I now welcome you into my heart and life as my savior and Lord. With your help and direction, I commit to living for you until the day you call me to be with you in heaven.

Thank you, Lord.’

If you have spoken this prayer in faith, welcome to the family of God. Begin by reading your bible daily, and seeking the Lord’s guidance to discover a suitable church where you can grow in your relationship with Him.
